Winter time conjures up thoughts of long standing traditions and celebrations, no matter where in the world you may be. For some it is making carrot-nosed, coal-eyed snowmen. Others begin making their shopping lists, and checking them twice. For those in the southern parts of Germany and neighboring Austria, winter time means Christkindlmarkts.
The car rental alone was a lesson as well as a slightly stressful situation, but it was nothing compared to actually driving. We were on our 4-hour road trip with no prior experience driving in Spain. One of the first “road bumps” we came across was the traffic signs. The road signs in Spain are not the same as we are accustomed to. Hit the Ground Running
The planning for this trip started even before I (Mariah) arrived in Spain. It was necessary to plan that far in advance because it was to happen on my first weekend in Spain. Talk about hitting the ground running! This first trip was a mixture of lessons learned and stress, all mixed up with a great time with friends. Actually, that sounds a lot like life in general. Ultimately the trip was a wonderful experience!
The Monday through Friday “work-week” is much different here in Spain for me and Mariah, compared to our life in Arizona. Here is a quick insight into some daily routines I have, and how they stack up to my former “life” as a public school teacher in Arizona.
Horseshoe Bend is the enormous horseshoe shaped canyon in Page, Arizona. Visitors travel the world to see this curve in the ground because of its sheer beauty and incredible geological structure, or at least, to take stunning photos. I had never seen in it person and it was a bucket list item to visit this highly photographed spot.
